How HTML email signatures work

Email clients support a smaller set of HTML and CSS than browsers. A conservative layout is more dependable across clients.

Why InboxSig uses tables

  1. The generated signature uses nested presentation tables, inline styles and web-safe fonts. Images use absolute HTTPS addresses and explicit dimensions.
  2. There are no scripts, external stylesheets, background images or web fonts inside the signature. Social icons are small hosted PNG files.

Copy content or source?

  1. Copy signature puts rich HTML and a text alternative on the clipboard. Paste that into a rich signature editor.
  2. Copy HTML is for an editor that explicitly accepts source. Pasting raw HTML into a visual editor usually displays the tags as text. Client rendering still varies; test before rolling out.
